Safety in our School
Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all of its pupils; keeping
our pupils safe is our number one priority. We recognise that some children may be especially vulnerable to abuse and that children who are abused or neglected may find it difficult to develop a sense.
The school pays full regard to DfES guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’. We ensure that all appropriate measures are applied in relation to everyone who works in the school who is likely to be perceived by the children as a safe and trustworthy adult including e.g. volunteers and staff employed by contractors. Safer recruitment practice includes scrutinising applicants, verifying identity and academic or vocational qualifications, obtaining professional and character references, checking previous employment history and ensuring that a candidate has the health and physical capacity for the job. It also includes undertaking interviews and, where appropriate, ISA and Criminal Records Bureau checks.

Child Protection and Safeguarding
If you have concerns regarding a child regarding a child in school, then contact James Rogers, the Designated Safeguarding Lead in the school as soon as possible. In his absence, please contact Kerry Redman, the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead. If you wish to make a child protection referral because you are worried about a child you can contact the Children and Families Hub on 0345 6037627.
If you are concerned about the conduct of a member of staff following something you have observed or a disclosure, you must report this to the Head teacher (or Deputy Head teacher) in the absence of the Head teacher). If your concern is about the Head teacher you must report this to the Chair of Governors.
Visitors to school
In line with our safeguarding procedures, all visitors must sign in and wear their visitors’ badges at all times. Visitors not wearing their badges will be challenged and asked to return to reception, to sign in or leave the premises.
Fire safety
Everyone on-site must familiarise yourself with the fire safety instructions which are displayed in every room, and the site of the nearest fire exits. In the event of a fire alarm sounding (a continuous bell) please leave the building by the nearest available exit. The muster point is on far side of the school playground. Visitors to the school reception area should evacuate through the front door of the school and muster on the playground.
Health and safety
Any health and safety concerns on site should be brought to the immediate attention of the Site Manager (Mr Terry Portway) and/or the Head teacher
Strangers on site
If you witness anyone behaving in a suspicious or concerning manner on or near to the school site, please bring these to the immediate attention of the school office/ a member of the school staff.
