Curriculum
The Ingrave Johnstone Curriculum
At Ingrave Johnstone Primary School, the children access a vibrant and creative thematic curriculum. This ensures that during your child’s primary school life they will develop all the necessary skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary to meet the requirements of the National Curriculum.
We follow the National Curriculum Programmes of Study for all subjects. Topics and units of learning are mapped out over both Key Stages to ensure continuity and progression of learning. Our curriculum covers following areas: English, Maths, Science, Art, Music, Technology, Computing, Geography, History, Physical Education, French, Personal, Social and Health Education and Religious Education as well as the school’s wider curriculum of cross curricular themes.
Our aim is to help each pupil to become a confident capable and co-operative member of the wider community. We seek to establish a learning community within which teaching and support staff, governors, parents, future parents and other stakeholders can work together towards achieving these aims. We want a school in which children are fully involved in their own learning; a place where children will experience success but not to be afraid of failure; where they will be encouraged to investigate, evaluate and actively question; where they will learn to work co-operatively with others; where they will learn to appreciate each other’s talents and challenges and learn to see and enjoy the richness of the world around them.
