Healthy Snacks
IMPORTANT: HEALTHY SNACK
I would like to start by thanking the majority of parents who ensure that their children bring a healthy snack into school with them each day, or if they are in the infants, take advantage of the Government’s free healthy snack scheme and have fruit or vegetables from it in class.
In recent weeks, we have had examples of children bringing in packets of crisps, sausage rolls, chocolate and sweets, which are NOT healthy snacks!
Therefore, to clarify the situation, please read the following information regarding what are or are not examples of healthy snacks to bring into school:
Examples of healthy snacks that can be brought into school |
Examples of unhealthy snacks that cannot be brought into school |
Fruit or vegetables Dried fruit-currants, raisins, apricots etc. A small amount of cheese or a Babybel Plain breadsticks, plain rice cakes, small pitta bread, malt loaf Fruit Winders; yoghurt e.g Frubes Cereal bars that do not contain chocolate or nuts |
Crisps, chocolate, sweets, cakes, biscuits, high-sugar snacks such as Kelloggs Squares; sausage rolls, Pepperami |
We operate a NO NUT policy, as we have children with severe nut allergies in the school - this includes Nutella! Please ensure all snacks and lunches are nut free.
If children are found eating unhealthy snacks, these will be confiscated and the children will be offered a healthy snack, such as a piece of fruit or vegetable, as an alternative. We appreciate your continuing support with our healthy snack policy.
